What is the Murph Challenge?

The Murph Challenge is a CrossFit workout named after Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005. It's a popular Memorial Day tradition to honor fallen soldiers. The workout consists of:

Traditionally performed wearing a 20lb vest or body armor, participants must complete all exercises in the specified order, though the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats can be broken up as needed (e.g., 20 rounds of 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 squats).

How does this counter work?

This is a voice-activated counter designed to track your Murph Challenge progress. It's optimized for those doing a partitioned murph (where you break up the pullups, pushups, and squats into sets). Here's how to use it:

  1. Click "Allow Microphone" to enable voice commands
  2. Click "Start Run" to begin timing your first mile
  3. Click "End Run. Start pull-ups, push-ups, squats" when finished with the first run
  4. During the exercise phase, say:
    • "[number] pullups" (e.g., "5 pullups") to add pull-ups
    • "[number] pushups" (e.g., "10 pushups") to add push-ups
    • "[number] squats" (e.g., "15 squats") to add squats
    • "stats" to hear your current totals
    • "what's left" or "left" to hear remaining reps
    • "fix" to undo the last recorded entry
  5. Click "End pull-ups, push-ups, squats. Start Run" when done with exercises
  6. Click "End Run" after your second mile
  7. Say "all done" at any time to stop the timer and end the workout

The counter will record split times for each section and provide voice feedback when exercises are recorded.
